FCU (short for Fan Coil Unit) is an air handling unit, part of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. It is commonly used in residential buildings, commercial buildings, supermarkets, cinemas, and industrial facilities, etc.
An FCU is a simple, small-capacity air handling unit used to supply chilled air to a room (the chiller source is taken from a central chilled water production plant). Many people even call an FCU an air conditioner or FCU unit because of its function and use. The FCU is a device in the direct load system of a Chiller system; therefore, you may also hear terms like FCU Chiller or FCU Chiller Unit when referring to this device.
